Copied notes from individual episodes:
A quick note on “-taso”: The manga and the Toei subs rendered this as “Ultra rare” but looking into the matter on Japanese sites, what we found was pretty much all just “It’s a corruption of ‘-tan’, itself a corruption of ‘-chan’, and is modern otaku slang”, which very much fits the vibe of the character saying it. Thankfully the fact that Chopper asks what that means and nobody answers means that it being incomprehensible can be considered part of the point: D
A quick note on “Hayrudin”: So the Giraffe just hated the “Hajrudin” spelling. Like, vehemently. And we looked into it and saw that he is apparently named after Hayreddin Barbarossa, only slightly tweaked (Re changed to Ru, the double D changed to a single). So, Hayrudin it is!
We were fully set to just ignore the "ELBAPH" sign at the end of episode 1160 since it was too fancy to typeset around... Then Gyro had an idea to typeset around it anyway. So eff you Toei, "ELBAPH" spelled in English translates to "ELBAF" actually. (Well it's not like we could in any way GET RID OF the "ELBAPH" text, but now it ALSO says Elbaf afterwards.)
