Crazy how this slipped under everyones radar to the point that there doesn't even appear to be a JP BD release. A show has to REALLY perform badly to be skipped over for a disc release in Japan. Even Netflix releases get discs there if they put up strong streaming numbers, because of Japan's strong physical media collectors market. Nihei got high on the insane amount of undeserved praise for Knights of Sidonia and now he's slipping. Yeah he's great at drawing weird looking stuff. He's a terrible story-teller and his characters are flat and boring, he's also bad at drawing dynamic action scenes (I had a hard time determining what was going on in many Knights of Sidonia battle scenes just based on drawings alone, and regularly had to be rescued by the narrative text, which was barely any better). Although it's my understanding that he didn't even do the art for the manga that his series is adapted from. So he doesn't even have that going for him. I checked every online blu-ray disc release database I could find, including major retailers who stock EVERYTHING that gets released in Japan - and nothing. Not even a BD for the movie.
